Where it all began

For my first blog post I would like to give you all a little insight into our lives and how our love story began. Tanner and I (Loni) grew up together in the small town of Antwerp, Ohio where we were also in the same grade. It's kind of crazy but at age 10 we both had this gut feeling that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. When we were in the 5th grade we had a 5th and 6th grade dance that we both attended and Tanner asked me to dance and that's where it all began. We both love to laugh about how I was way taller than him at this point in our lives!

Now I didn't make it easy on him, we never officially started dating until about 5 years later. We were friends up until we started dating and Tanner even tried dating me sooner, but it just didn't feel like the right time for me. Then the summer before our sophomore year it just clicked for me that he was my person. I sent him a message on MySpace (yes we are getting old) and from there we spent many long nights messaging back and forth. A few weeks later we went to the movies together and when we got home from our movie date I just asked him, "so are we dating?" And the rest is history.

We dated all through high school and unfortunately at the end of our senior year it was time for us to take some time apart and go our separate ways with college (even though both our colleges were in Toledo). We spent 2 years apart, dating other people, spending time with friends, learning who we were apart, but I never felt completely fulfilled without him in my life. Once again I just had to send him a message. This time it stuck for good. We were back together and the feeling was indescribable. It was my fairy tale.

About a month into us being back together Tanner took me ring shopping and I picked out the most perfect ring for me. Little did I know Tanner went back the next day and bought the ring and hid it in his sister's safe for 3 years before proposing to me. He wanted to wait for us to be done with college and more stable on our feet to propose, which is a very Tanner move and a move I appreciate so very much. He truly picked the best time and moment in our relationship to propose. It was one of those moments that just felt right, a perfect timing moment. He proposed to me at his sister's house, with our adorable new baby nephew, AJ. The night before the proposal I was at work and he texted me to see if the next day if I wanted to go to one of his classes with him and we could stop and see his sister and her family afterwards. Of course, I said yes so we could see our new adorable nephew. Come to find out, while I was at work he was at my parents house asking my parents for permission to marry me. I had gotten home from work that morning and went straight to bed, it was a long night and I only had about 4 hours to sleep before I had to get up and get ready to go with Tanner. Thankfully he picked me up with coffee to keep me going. While he went to class, I took a nap in the computer lounge at his school. I must say, I was looking mighty rough at this point, and a new pimple was forming on my nose that day. I still had no clue what was about to happen or what was waiting for me. We headed to his sister's house and we went straight back to the nursery to see our nephew and baby AJ was all dressed up in his crib with a sign saying, "Aunt Loni will you be my Aunt forever?"

Of course the tears started in and Tanner started playing a video with all of our pictures and memories together with Thomas Rhett's song "Die a Happy Man" in the background. At the end of the video it said, "Loni will you marry me?" and Tanner was down on one knee with the ring. Of course I said yes!

We got married a little less than a year later on October 14th, 2017. The absolute best day of our lives.

We are now expecting our first little one, Adalynn Verlaine Copsey on May 22nd, 2020. We are so excited to take on this next step in our lives together as parents.

I hope that gives you all a little detail into our lives and how we met. My next post will be about our dream farmhouse and how we were able to get to it and how we started renovating it with before and after pictures. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed!
